Sadness/Sorrow : Daughter Shopping
Posted by Lyra on 2010/3/1 9:44:22 (57 reads)

Start anew.

Try to erase the past.

Go on and tell yourself

you can begin again.

Try again.

Buy another puppy.

You can mold it and shape it

and teach it and train it.

Go ahead.

Throw away the remains

of the screw-up before

as you clear off the slate.

Make a fool.

Raise her in your image.

And turn the other cheek

as you turn your back.

"
Try again.

Buy another puppy."

"Make a fool.

Raise her in your image."

To me, these lines were the heavy-hitters of the whole poem. And even a bit of humor in them when read together specfically!

But seriously...

You're calm and ruthless at the same time, which is very hard to pull off. Much respect. Keep them comin'.

Team ECHO,

Making the poet feel heard.

I liked it when you first showed it to me, but I really like the finality of you posting it. The structure is good and the final stanza is my favorite...
I have to say that I hate that you've felt like this... because you're really a good person, and I dont see how ANYONE would want to throw you aside, let alone your own family.

That's exactly what it felt like when I wrote this, I'm glad it comes across.

I love the words and analogies but extremely dislike the feeling that it gives off. No one wants to be tossed aside and it's very upsetting if when it begins to feel like your getting thrown out with the trash :(
